On Wednesday 9th of June we had a Safety Day webinar. Around 4,000 children came to hear the safety webinar. Cork County Council set up the webinar. They taught us about water and farm safety.
Farm safety applies to everyone, even if you do or do not live on a farm. We learned that you need to keep a lid on containers. We learned that if you do go to a farm, you should always be with an adult. We heard a story about a man losing his son on a farm. He told us that a farm is not a playground.
The water safety webinar had lots of new facts such as the fact that 30 children drown every 10 years and that you should swim with at least 3 people present. It was very interesting to know how to treat a jelly fish sting. I t was a really fun day and don’t forget to Stay Safe this summer!
We enjoyed playing the safety board games provided by Cork County Council. Students gave a description of the games they played.
