Author Natasha Mac a ‘Bháird:

As part of the Children’s Book Festival 2020 organised by the Cork County Library & Arts Service, Cobh Mixed National School were lucky to be one of two schools in Cobh to take part in a zoom call with author Natasha, Mac a ‘Bháird, author of the brilliant Sonia O’Sullivan Great Irish Sports Star Novel. Each child in the school received a copy of the novel beforehand to read through before the zoom call. The children had many questions ready for Natasha.  The story of an ordinary girl from Cork who enjoyed running games with her friends, joined a running club and started to win races, and began to dream of the Olympic Games.

One 6th class student gave her account of the zoom call with Natasha.

On Friday 27th November the children took part in a zoom call with author Natasha Mac ‘Bháird. We had a great fun with Natasha. We asked her a lot of questions about Sonia and also about herself. It was interesting to learn about the life of Sonia and the events which lead up to her achievements. Natasha showed us around her writing studio and she even had a power point presentation about Sonia’s life. We are very grateful that we were invited to do the zoom call with Natasha.

Natasha told us about all her other novels, which we found very interesting.  We will definitely be reading some of her other books very soon.

Thank you, Natasha and our teachers, and everyone who organized the zoom call, we all really appreciate it.
