Cobh Mixed National School were invited to take part in an art competition held by the Cobh & Harbour Chamber. The theme of the competition was ‘Cobh at Christmas Time’. The prize for the winner of the competition was to turn on the Christmas lights in Cobh on Sunday 21st November. Chamber President Joanna Murphy made a visit to the school to have a talk about the Art Competition with the children. This was done in the school halla where everyone was able to maintain social distancing. The children were very anxious to win the competition and they submitted beautiful coulourful paintings. We are delighted to announce that a Senior Infant pupil from our own school won the overall prize, and she had the privilege of turning on the Christmas lights this year in Cobh.
It was a great turnout in Cobh for the turning on of the lights and our winning pupil did a great job. We are very proud of her and all the pupils in the school for the excellent artwork submitted to the competition.
