The 1st Safety Board Game was called ‘Wise up to Water Safety’ which one pupil gave his account of. The aim of the game was to get to the end first. Every time you took a turn you had to pick up a card. The card instructed you whether to go forward or go back depending on the dangers. So if the card showed it was a danger you would have to go back a certain amount of steps or go back to the start. You could also get a well done card where you can go forward a few steps. Some facts that the pupil mentioned were.
Don’t swim when you are hot and tired.
An adult should always supervise playtime.
Don’t swim in strange places.
Pay attention to signs on the beach.
Learn to use water equipment before trying it out.
Don’t swim out after anything drifting.
Most importantly do what the lifeguard tells you to do.
