The following is the extract the pupils wrote for the school website based on our Science Week. It sums up exactly what a great day was had by all.
On the 15th of November the Heritage Council came to our school for the day as part of our Science Week. We talked about pollinators and how important they are for life and food. To help have more pollinators we planted spring bulbs, crocuses and snow drops. Next, we set up a science experiment to test if a plant can grow without one of the four essentials water, heat, light and soil. which are needed for growth. After the break the lady showed and explained how essential berries nuts and seeds are to animals in winter. Then we made clay ornaments with berries, nuts and seeds. Finally, after the second break we went for a nature walk. We learned about trees such as evergreen and deciduous. We identified six different types of trees and their berries. The trees or plants are, Horse chestnut, Ivy, Holly, Black thorn, White thorn, Ash. The berries are. Ivy berries, Chestnut, Sloes, Haws, and Holly berries and Ash keys. The adventure was fun.
