The school went to visit Fota Adventure Centre for their school tour recently, and took part in various activities during the day such as,

Camouflage Hide n Seek

We first went into the woods and did some hide and seek but with a twist. We got divided into 2 groups, seekers, and hiders. The first group had to wear some camouflage jackets and went with an instructor to hide, and the seekers stayed with the second instructor until instructed to find the hiders. It was great fun.

Survival Camping

For the second activity, we went to a special area in the woods and were divided into Juniors and Seniors. Our task was to build shelters, beds, toilets, seats and make a bonfire. The Juniors were helped by one instructor and the Seniors were supervised and got to do it on their own. Two of the groups had one ammunition box with equipment to help them build their shelter. In the middle, there was a pile of wood planks, bricks/stones, tires, and logs. After a while, everyone had to come sit together with the instructor so we could learn about fire safety and learned how to light a fire. At the end we all got to roast some marshmallows and also inspected everyone’s shelter. We then had some lunch before the last activity.

26 Obstacle Courses

For the last activity, we did some obstacle courses. We had to wear helmets for safety. We had to do it two times but the first time we went through it slowly and after we got used to it, we were able to do it by ourselves and had the choice of being timed. We really loved the trip and would love to go again.
